How to prevent teeth loss

Edentulism, or tooth loss, usually occurs more frequently in elderly people, although it can occur at any stage of a patient's life.

Periodontitis and caries are the most common causes of tooth loss. Not going to the dentist regularly to check the state of your oral health (and thus identifying oral problems in time to prevent the disease from developing) is one of the main reasons an adult can lose a tooth.

The lack of healthy oral health habits and hygiene are other reasons for this problem.

To help the population in the face of tooth loss, we have drawn up a list of recommendations to follow:

  •     Brush twice daily with toothpaste, use an interdental brush, clean the tongue properly, and renew the toothbrush every 3 months.
  •     Take care of your diet by eating foods with calcium to keep your teeth strong and healthy and avoid sugars.
  •     Visit the dentist periodically (at least once a year) to prevent any disease, problem, or pathology that may lead to tooth loss.
  •     Avoid bad habits such as smoking or biting objects (or nails).

Proper oral hygiene is essential for a healthy mouth. When the milk teeth fall out in childhood to make way for the permanent teeth, these will remain and accompany us throughout our lives, so it is essential to take care of them to keep them healthy and strong to show off a healthy mouth.
